What we collect

When you use the Buy Less Trash website or browser extension, we receive the URL of the product page you're looking up. We use this URL solely to find or analyze the product and suggest a more sustainable alternative.

Browser extension

The Buy Less Trash Chrome extension reads the URL of your active tab only when you click the extension icon. It sends that URL to our server at buylesstrash.com to look up sustainability data. We do not track your browsing history, run background scripts, or collect any data beyond the single URL you choose to look up.

Data we store

• Product URLs — stored so we can show results for previously analyzed products without re-processing.
• Submitted URLs log — we log URLs submitted for analysis to monitor usage and prevent abuse. No personal identifiers are attached.

What we don't collect

• No personal information (name, email, account)
• No browsing history beyond the URL you explicitly submit
• No cookies for tracking or advertising
• No data sold to third parties

Third-party services

We use third-party services to read and analyze product pages. These services receive the product URL and page content for processing. We do not share your data with advertisers or data brokers.
